Allie did not want to go back to Hidden Pines. There is too much pain and guilt associated with it. While trying to outrun her bad memories she runs in Damian, the mysterious bad boy, who everyone tells her to stay away from. Each time she is with Damian, the more she learns that Damian is not as bad as everyone thinks. He helps her move on from her past and even saves her life more than once. But is that enough?
I thought Allie is a little bit bitchy in the beginning. She is angry that she was forced to spend her last summer before college with her father and his new family at the place that she hates the most. Last summer, she was watching her 9 year old cousin, Maddie near the river when her cousin fell in. Allie tried to save her but unfortunately was unable to get to her and Maddie drowned. Honestly, I think I would be a little bitchy too. Plus she has to deal with her step brother, Nick who wants nothing to do with her. At least she has her new friend Brooke and Nick's friend Aaron to keep her occupied.
At least until she meets Damian.
Damian is hot. He lives alone, rides motorcycle and for some needs to watch out for Allie. The rumor around town is that Damian killed his family to get money.
The ending freaked me out a little. I was not expecting the book to go that way. You find out Damian's secret and then the story gets scary! There was a little too much violence for me and it looked like a few characters were not going to make it out alive, let alone give me my Happily Ever After but I did finish the book and loved the ending!
